The latex condom is a mechanical barrier used to avoid the transmission of the HIV during sexual intercourse.  Latex condoms are checked electronically to get an authorization for sale.  If an electron is not able to pass, much less a virus will, which is a million times bigger.

The condom has an efficiency bigger than 95% when is consistently and correctly used, meaning, in all of our sexual practices.  This is because the Human Immune-Deficiency Virus measures 100 nanometers.  While the intra-molecular spaces of a condom never exceed 25 nanometers, even when the official norm accepts 40 nanometers, thatís why while for a virus with a dimension of more than the double or cuadruple is impossible to go through the condom, much more difficult it is for a spermatozoid to get through it with a size of 3000 nanometers.

To use the condom correctly, you must follow these steps:

First is to check its expiration date, that the fabricants estimate in 5 years.  However, for a higher safety, it is recommended to use them only within the first 3 years after their manufacturation.  So, if they have the letters EXP, 2 years need to be substracted from this date.  Some other times the package of the condom indicates the manufacturation date, preceded by the letters MFD or MFG, to this date 3 years of life must be added.

After making sure that the package has air inside, in other words, that the package feels like a small square balloon filled with air; if it flattens then itís signal that the air has escaped through somewhere in the package, through the same place that surely bateria and dirt have entered, besides ozone, which destroys the latex.  In this case, the condom must be thrown away.

The condom package has to be opened with the fingertips, Ďcause itís posible for the condom to break or pierce if done with the nails, leaving it useless.  Most of the condoms have notches on the edges of the package, pointing the place where the opening should be done.

There are non-lubricated and lubricated condoms.  Lubricated condoms feel moist.  Some have, besides the lubricant, a mild detergent that kills the spermatozoids and the virus in the sperm; Nonoxinol 9 is the most used on the condoms.

In the extreme of the condom corresponding the tip of the penis, there is a small bag that has as the purpose of being the container of the semen.  Before using the condom, you should extract the air of that protuberance to avoid its breakage, by softly pressing the bag with the fingers.  A drop of lubricant in the interior of the condom can increase the pleasure of using it.

The unrolled condom must be placed over the head of the erect penis and be unrolled while this last one gets covered.  It shouldnít be unrolled before because an unrolled condom itís easy to break when put in place.

The condom must be placed in the way it gets unrolled.  Some people put the wrong side on and then they have to flip it to be able to unroll it, but by that time, the condom could have been contaminated by pre-seminal fluid which is capable to transmit the virus; if this happens, the condom must be thrown away.

To facilitate the penetration, specially anal and in women who meagerly lubricate when the condom is already in place on the penis, it is recommended to abundantly use some lubricant, which must be water based like KY, Lubrizal or Lubrigel; you should never use baby oils, petrolatums, nor any other kind of grease, because they destroy the condom.

Letís remember that the erect penis has a bigger size than in flaccid state.  Because of this, if we wait to lose erection to get it out of the anus or the vagina, it is likely for the semen to spread itself inside the cavity when we try to pull it out, with the risk of infection and/or pregnancy it involves.  To avoid this, you shoulnít wait to lose the erection to get out of the couple.  Once the ejaculation has been produced, if decided this way, you have to take the base of the condom, squeezing against the base of the penis, so it doesnít spill and pulling outside the anus or the vagina.  Once outside, pull off the condom, taking care of not spilling the semen.

Once the condom is withdrawn, the open side should be tied up to avoid that the content comes out.  Or be deposited open in the trash where nobody should touch it before 10 hours.

Condoms should be only used once.

There is no use in carrying the condom in the hand bag or in the jacket, the important thing is to use it.  The condom is a prevention instrument not a lucky charm.

The female condom is made out of poliuretane, which makes it more resistant than the latex one.  It has the approximate shape of the male condom totally unrolled, with two plastic rings.  To put it in place, the smaller and most flexible ring must be squeezed and folded, to introduce it in this way to the bottom of the vagina.  Then you let it go and it gets held against the vaginal deep end.  The bigger ring stays out of the vagina and the penis goes right through it.

You have to take care that when penetrating,  the penis goes inside the condom, because if youíre not careful, you have the risk of introducing the penis between the condom and the vaginal wall, and in this case there is no protection.

This is a plastic film used for wrapping food.  And itís very useful to have protected oral sex practices, whether itís annilingus or cunnilingus.  To do this, you must ďwrapĒ the vagina or the anus of the person to which you want to caress with the tongue.

The film comes in rolls of several feet, from which you cut the amount you calculate can be enough to cover the zone to be caressed and be placed on top of it.  You can add some jello or cream to make it more tasty.
